I am an active member and past president of my service club, West Tacoma Optimist Club, and have been named Optimist Member of the Year in recognition of my service in the club.

As president, I used the teachings of UCLA basketball coach John Wooden as a platform for discussion in our weekly meetings.

Our local club’s causes include helping children with cancer.

We hold oratorical and essay contests, conduct tri-star sports challenges and provide scholarships to local youth.
