Personal Activities

In high school (way back when!), I was a fortunate member (a reserve) of the Curtis High School boy's basketball team that went 24-0 in 1971 and won the State AA championship. Last year, 2010, the team was inducted into the Tacoma-Pierce County Athletic Commission Hall of Fame.

In 1973, my senior year of high school, I was honored and selected to play in the All-Northwest Concert band playing the saxophone.

At Washington State University, I was the lead alto sax player in the primary jazz ensemble for all 4 years.

I have attended jazz camp at Stanford University and Dizzy Gillespie was there.

In 1990, I was fortunate to participate in a European choir tour with the University Presbyterian Church in Seattle.

I have successfully climbed Mt. Rainier and Glacier Peak, both on the first attempts.

I have crossed the Olympic Mountains over Anderson Pass and down to the Quinault River basin.

I have climbed up Aasgard Pass to the Enchantments overlooking Leavenworth, Washington (before the fire in the 1990's!).

I own 2 tree farms and 1 is in the American Tree Farm System.

I am the proud owner of Simba, the blonde Golden retriever. Simba recently celebrated his 13th birthday and he is still going strong.
